Foam Spider - Black and Green

The foam spider is one of the BEST BLUEGILL FLIES ON THE PLANET! In fact, if forced to choose just one fly, the foam spider would be on my short list.

 

This "Topwater Assassin" is designed for panfish but it works equally well for bass an other shallow water species.  It is hard to beat this simple, effective, topwater fly. 

 

It is  a “must have” for any serious Bluegill fly fisherman and is especially effective when fishing areas with a lot of undergrowth. 

 

Drop it hard and wait for action.  Allow the ripples to dissipate, then experiment with short, fast retrieves, twitches, and slow retrieves.  If the fish are active, you will catch their attention.
